Durch das Übermalen entsteht ein anderes, ein zweites Ich, ein Abbild, welches das eigentliche überdeckt und uns aus unserer Sicht und aus der Sicht der dahingehend Manipulierten in einem negativen Licht erscheinen lässt. Dieses Abbild wird oftmals als realer empfunden als das ursprüngliche. Je nach Drehung der Figur sind für den Betrachter das eigentlich Ich oder das durch die Manipulation verdeckte Persönlichkeitsbild sichtbar. Aufwerten des eigenen Selbstwertgefühls durch Herabsetzung des anderen, eine für die von den negativen Auswirkungen Betroffenen leidvolle Erfahrung, der nur schwer wieder zu entkommen ist und die seelische Narben hinterlässt.
